Meet the Author, Coach, and Speaker Behind Echo and Grow

Kathryn Arnold, MCD, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist and Children's Book Author

Kathryn Arnold, speech therapist, author, gestalt language processing expert, Echo and Grow

Welcome! I’m Kathryn, a speech therapist with nearly two decades of experience working with children in the schools, private practice, and beyond. For the past five years, I have been supporting the education of clinicians, teachers, and caregivers in gestalt language development.

As a mother of two boys, I know the value of slowing down, enjoying time together, and using books to support language development. Creating children’s books rooted in natural language development felt like a natural next step in my journey after years of developing educational materials, coaching, and speaking to thousands of professionals and parents worldwide.

Echo and Grow books are a neurodiversity affirming resource here to fill the gap in gestalt language processor resources. Each book supports language and literacy development in children while also helping adults better understand gestalt language processing.

Do you have a child who loves repeating favorite lines, phrases, or scripts from shows and books?

These stories were made for them!

An Echo and Grow Stage 1 Book

Benny (a determined little bunny) and Milo (a giraffe with a big heart) are back on another everyday adventure—this time discovering the power of saying, "I don't like it."

Written with gestalt language development in mind, this book uses playful, repeatable phrases so your child can engage, echo, and develop language naturally. As Benny and Milo encourage one another, they learn an important lesson about bodily autonomy, self-advocacy, and what happens when friends make mistakes. Together, they discover that setting boundaries is brave, listening to others matters, and forgiveness helps friendships grow stronger.

And for caring grown-ups, parents, caregivers, or educators, there's more than just a story here. You'll find helpful insights and guidance throughout, including ways to support children who use echolalia to communicate, information about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and other forms of communication.

This isn't just a children's book. It's an opportunity to support your child’s language and literacy journey, deepen your understanding of communication, and build confidence and connection as your child sees how powerful their “no” can be.

Come along as Benny and Milo learn a lesson that echoes for all of us:

Every child deserves to be heard, to have their boundaries respected, and for all communication to be celebrated.
